Vladimir Putin applauded Nitol’s project

On April 9, 2010, the trans-regional conference of the United Russia party “Development of Siberia in 2010-2012” took place. The conference was chaired by the party leader, the Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

Governors of 12 Siberian Federal Districts, federal ministers, deputies of the State Duma, members of the Federation Council, as well as leaders of the United Russia party participated in the event.

At the conference, the six largest projects that are being successfully implemented in the Siberian Federal District were presented to Vladimir Putin and conference participants. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nitol Dmitry Kotenko represented Irkutsk Region with the project of the establishment of the large-scale production of polycrystalline silicon and monosilane – the first one of this kind in Russia.

Vladimir Putin took an active part in the project discussion and highly praised the project. “It is a truly hi-tech project made from scratch by highly educated people”, said the Prime Minister and called the audience to applaud Dmitry Kotenko’s speech. Vladimir Putin especially stressed that this high-tech project is being implemented by mainly young people.

Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of SB RAS, academician Alexander Aseev drew the Prime Minister’s attention to the importance of the project to Russia: “The creation of the polysilicon production base will have a breakthrough effect on the Russian economy. This is truly high tech”. In return, the Head of Nitol pointed to the project’s close partnership with the Siberian Branch of RAS.

Speaking about the importance of the project for the region, Dmitry Kotenko said that, in addition to creating 1000 attractive jobs and bringing 19,5 billion rubles in investments to the regional economy, extra taxes contributed till 2014 will amount to some 5 bln rubles.

Dmitry Kotenko also shared plans to establish an industrial park in Usolie-Sibirskoe. The park will serve as a base for the development of production of hi-tech materials for the semiconductors industry, optoelectronics, photovoltaics, as well as innovative construction and nanoscale materials. Dmitry Kotenko emphasized that Irkutsk Region has everything needed – vast raw material base and power resources. Investments into the industrial park projects are estimated to amount to 60 billion rubles by 2020.

The conference in Novosibirsk also hosted the exhibition of regional projects of the Siberian Federal District . Nitol’s booth was attended by the State Duma Chairman Boris Gryzlov, the Minister of Regional Development Viktor Basargin, deputy chairman of the Council of Federation Svetlana Orlova, head of Vneshekonombank (VEB, State Corporation Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs) Vladimir Dmitriev, and other participants.
